Welcome to the first official day of the 2018 RC Soaring Nats! Today's contests include F3K HL Thermal Glider, Altitude Limited Electric Soaring (ALES), and F5J. These events run through Sunday.
Four days of competing in the 2018 RC Aerobatics (Pattern) Nats wrapped up Thursday with a banquet and awards ceremony. The members of Team USA for the 2019 world championship were also selected.
The semifinal rounds in the FAI class were held Wednesday, and the field was whittled down to eight pilots. Because of a tie, nine pilots advanced to the finals in the Masters class. The finals are being held today.
This year’s RC Aerobatics (Pattern) Nats contestants are a mix of those who participate each year, some who are returning after several years of absence, and those who have never been to the International Aeromodeling Center to compete.
The first day of the 2018 RC Aerobatics (Pattern) Nats began with a briefing for the F3A pilots, then flying started soon after. Some of the younger pilots are being mentored by more experienced competitors. This event runs through Thursday, July 19.
The Open, Senior, and Junior class winners of the 2018 CL Precision Aerobatics Nats were crowned on Saturday. The Walker Cup flyoff was also held. Today is the first day of the 2018 RC Aerobatics Nats.
The winner of the 2018 CL Precision Aerobatics Advanced class was crowned Friday, and the and Open class was pared down to five pilots. The winner of the Open class and Junior and Senior classes will be selected Saturday.

The 2018 RC Combat, RC Pylon Racing, Control Line (CL) Navy Carrier, and CL Combat Nats have come to an end. Today's issue has wrap-up reports for these events, and an update on CL Aerobatics.
Two contests have launched into their last day of the 2018 Outdoor Nats. Today is the final day for RC Pylon Racing and Control Line (CL) Navy Carrier. Only unofficial events are being held at CL Navy Carrier today.
