First thing Thursday morning. a flyoff was held for FAC Old Time Stick. Pat Murray (R) edged out Doug Griggs for the victory.

It was the day we’d been waiting for all week. Temperatures were in the 60s-70s, wind was light and variable, and there were copious thermals. Heaven is Muncie, Indiana for the FF Nats.
Many maxes were posted this day and more than a dozen dents were flown, including the prestigious and historic AMA HLG event, won this year by Stab Buddenbohm. This was at least his fifth Nats win, if memory serves. Jon James was a close second, followed by past winner Josh Finn.
CD Classic was a true battle between Ronnie Thompson and Gerald Brown. Long, patient air picking was rewarded with Gerald taking the win.
A Electric was another marquee performance by Bob Sowder. His Super Pearl 402E was unstoppable with eight maxes including five fly-offs.
On the FAC side, Pat Murray won Greve/Thompson with his practically-unbeatable Mr. Smoothie.
Old Time rubber stick remains a popular unofficial event. Glen Grell came all the way from Oregon to notch the win with 702 seconds.
One of the last events of the day was the late-afternoon FAC Old Time Fuselage fly-off. A mass launch was chosen, and the four finalists were required to fly a single flight, no max at 4:45 p.m., when thermals were still present. Predictably, Murphy reared his ugly head and two of the models flew out of site. First place went to this writer, with 9:18; second was Pat Murray with 7:55.
