As the competition draws down, the flying and competition is still very focused. The AMA (precision aerobatics) provided a number of classes to offer most everyone an opportunity to fly a set of maneuvers that is safely achievable.
In all of the years participating in model helicopter competition, hovering still offers one of the biggest challenges to all competitors. It’s interesting to see for yourself how challenging hovering over a point for several seconds can be.
Since hovering is part of a basic definition of what a helicopter can do, all (F3C, AMA and Scale ) must have a portion of the sequence requiring precision hovering.
The scale sequences wrapped up late today leaving the AMA and FAI portions of the contest to continue to the last day. Competition is very good and scores are improving for everyone. As a competitor and a judge; it’s great to see pilots learning from the experiences.
