The 2025 International Miniature Aerobatic Club (IMAC) Nationals are officially underway at the Academy of Model Aeronautics Headquarters in Muncie, Indiana. From July 29 to August 1, Site 3 will serve as the center of precision aerobatics as 49 skilled pilots from across the United States (and even across the globe) gather to compete in IMAC’s premier national event.
Practice Day Sets the Tone
July 28th was a full-throttle practice day, with both Site 3 and Site 4 buzzing with activity. Pilots fine-tuned their sequences, dialed in aircraft, and prepared mentally and mechanically for the start of competition. This year’s Nationals have drawn competitors from almost every IMAC region, showcasing the strong nationwide support for scale aerobatics.
Among this year’s standout participants is Adi Kochav, IMAC Vice-President, who traveled all the way from Israel to compete in both the Unlimited and Freestyle classes. His international presence highlights the growing global reach and camaraderie within the IMAC community.
The Contest Begins
During the pilot meeting, contestants were given their first unknown sequence, which they will fly during Round 3 on Day 1. But before that, pilots will tackle two known sequences as the opening rounds of competition. These initial flights will be critical in setting the tone for the rest of the event, where precision, consistency, and showmanship are key.

A special moment was reserved to recognize Kurt Koelling, who is celebrating his 25th consecutive year participating in the IMAC Nationals.
