A few of the pilots attending the pilot meeting for the F5J Team Selects.
By Mike Bergerson
It's 6 p.m. on July 25, 2024 … do you know where your F5J pilot is?
They are at Site 5 of the AMA International Aeromodeling Center attending the pilot meeting for US F5J Team Selects, which will determine who represents the US at the F5J World Championships being held in Argentina.
Norm Poti will be the contest director for three days of super competitive soaring with some of the best F5J pilots in the country. The format involves three days of flying to judge skill and consistency. Norm conducted a great meeting and was very precise regarding the rules and regulations pertaining to the F5J Team Selects. To spice things up, he held a quiz at the end with correct answers being awarded a $10 gift certificate.
Many of the pilots showed up on Thursday afternoon, July 25, to register and have their airplanes
inspected prior to the event. It's a treat to watch impromptu mini contests being flown for practice and have a chance to hang out with old and new friends.
Flying will start at 8 a.m. on July 26. No rounds will be flown after 6 p.m. on that day. On Sunday, July 28, no rounds will be flown after 3 p.m. to allow competitors the opportunity to get packed up for their respective trips home.
It's gonna be awesome! Come on out and support the 2024 F5J Team Selects.
Blue Skies!
