The outdoor temperatures reached the mid-80s for the first time on the fourth day of the AMA Indoor Nats, July 4. The contestants enjoyed more buoyant air than they had previously experienced. Brett Sanborn posted a remarkable round five F1D flight of 29:53 in the Tagliafico World Cup. Likewise, Arend Borst increased the Canadian F1D record once more to 28:16.
Contest Director David Lindley presented awards to the competitors of the glider and lightweight duration events. Additionally, Steve Brown was presented with his CIAM Legends Medal in recognition of his three World Champion wins in 1994, 1996, and 1998. The 1996 World Championships took place at the Kibbie Dome!
