The temperature was comfortable on Saturday, but the wind wreaked havoc at the CL Scale and RC Pylon Nats. At the CL circle, most competitors elected to not fly a second round because of the wind. At the RC Pylon flightline, the wind made takeoffs and corners challenging.

A low ceiling and some intermittent rain caused delays on Wednesday for the 2018 RC Scale Aerobatics Nats, known this year as the John Schroder Scale Aerobatics Championships 2018. After the delays, the competition picked back up and five rounds of flying were completed.

The first day of the 2018 RC Scale Aerobatics Nats began with a pilots' meeting, followed by a tribute to the late John Schroder. Two Known rounds and part of an Unknown round were completed, but then the sky darkened and the radar filled with thunderstorms. The contest was called for the day.

The 2018 RC Scale Aerobatics Nats begins today. This year's competition has been renamed the John Schroder Scale Aerobatics Championships 2018 in honor and in memory of the late John Schroder. All pilots who participate will receive a participation plaque to commemorate the event.

That's a wrap! The 2018 RC Scale Nats finished Sunday, June 24, with a surprise twist. The winner of the Fun Scale Open class finished a fraction of a point ahead of a fellow competitor! The winners in the other classes were also announced during an awards ceremony.

The first day of flying competition at the 2018 RC Scale Nats is in the books! Four flightlines were set up for the pilots and their aircraft on Saturday. The Piper Cub and other well-known aircraft were popular to model for this year's Nats.
